Giogi was lying on a
field covered with flowers and sunbathing under the beams
of Chubby-sun, which gave out a sweet lemon flavor. Yes,
springtime was coming. You could hear birds chirping, and
saw gaily-colored butterflies flying cheerfully from
flower to flower.

Suddenly, a thump was heard
behind a tree. Giogi run to see what had happened and
found a ladybug turned upside-down.
He helped her to stand up
and asked: "Did you fall from the above-world? Were you
together with the other children?" She looked at him in a
good-hearted way, as if she wanted to thank him for
having helped her and answered: "You're just right! I was
taking a stroll when suddenly the ground swallowed me up
and
now here I am! I don't like falling on my
bottom, it hurts! Moreover, I'm not so young as I used to
be and I've a stiff-neck!"
Giogi invited her to take a
rest and to tell him her adventure on the
above-world.
The ladybug agreed and
started to tell her story: "Before falling down here, I
was in a house that belonged to a very noisy family. The
children were running like ants while their parents were
doing the housework. I was about to take shelter
underneath a carpet to avoid to come to a bad end, when I
was caught by a terrific noise behind me. So, I was drawn
by a very strong air flow. I didn't even have time to fly
away and, so, I found myself bumping inside a dark
tunnel. Then, thump, I ended up onto a cover of dust. I
felt like I was gone to pieces. My spots were even about
to jump off my back. Ahaa! What a scare!"

Giogi was enthusiastic:
"You said you had fallen onto the dust, didn't you?! How
lovely! If I had been in your shoes, I'd have eaten it
up!!!"
The ladybug said in a
disgusted tone: "Ugh! You do like it! I was about to
choke because of the dust, instead!"
Giogi asked her
thoughtfully: "How did you manage to come out?"
The ladybug, happy with her
hard proof, answered solemnly: "I waited until the noise
stopped. Then, I tried to come out of the tunnel step by
step, brave-hearted despite my age. Eventually, here I
am!"
Giogi said: "Bravo! Then
the ground brought you to me, didn't it? What are you
going to do now? Do you want to come back to the
above-world? And tell me
"
"Oh, my dear kiddy. How
many questions! Wait for me to recover from the thump.
Aw! Since I am here, I'll stay here. I'm not willing to
go back over there and undergo any other injuries! I'll
be your companion, even though I'm not still young
anymore to play with you. I know a lot of stories and
songs, though, and I can teach them to you, if you want
me to!"
Giogi was really happy:
"Yes, please! How lovely! Why don't you teach me a song
right now! But
you haven't told me your name
yet!"
The ladybug was amazed:
"Actually, I've always been called ladybug!"
Giogi replied: "I will give
you a name! I'll call you Gioginella!"

The ladybug nodded and
smiled. She was very happy to have eventually received a
name and to have found a friend.
Then, they walked towards
Giogi's home, while Chubby-sun was setting and Lilac-moon
was rising to lighten the night and to give out its rose
flavor.
